Fredheads come from far and wide to whoop it up with their Hero, Fred Eaglesmith

Fred Eaglesmith isn’t an act, he’s a culture!

Like Deadheads followed Garcia, like Parrotheads flock to see Jimmy Buffet, Fredheads come from far and wide to whoop it up with their Hero, Fred Eaglesmith. Who else would follow up a soulful album about spirituality with a Tom Waits-esque CD entitled “Cha Cha Cha”? Who else can write a ferociously funny song about alcholol and guns and then bring tears to your eyes with a ballad about cheatin’ hearts?

A Fred Eaglesmith gig is more than a concert, it’s a show, a stand up comedy routine, a travelling carnival, and a good ol’ fashion honky tonk all rolled into one! He’s Willie Nelson meets Warren Zevon, Mark Twain meets Hunter S. Thompson, Jimmy Buffet sprinkled on Johnny Cash, and the warm humor of John Prine marinated in Neil Young.

Yet for all that, he’s 100% Original!

Fred J. Eaglesmith was born, as he sings in his song Indian Motorcycles, “in the springtime of the ’57 Chevy.” Growing up on a series of farms in southern Ontario, as one of nine children born into a farming family, Eaglesmith recalls spending his childhood in two places: working on the farm, or going to church. He started writing and playing music, influenced by Elvis and the sounds of roots music drifting into Ontario from far-away radio stations. He bought his first guitar with $12 he saved from his chores and hard work. When his family lost their farm, Eaglesmith, then 16, left home, hopped freight trains out west and traveled.

Eaglesmith has been blazing his own trail ever since. Doing upwards of 200 shows a year, he is one of the only remaining outlaw troubadors to truly live up to that label, always running his own show, and always putting the FANS FIRST!

The tour actively seeks out the backwater side roads to meet their fans half way, and now for the second time ever, Fred Eaglesmith comes to Bainbridge Island!

Check out Fred on Dave!
